Some say that what you wear underneath your clothes is as important as the clothes themselves. I couldn’t agree more because I think that good underwear lays the foundations for a good outfit.
And I’ve always loved lingerie! Buying new one has always been a way to gratify and spoil myself. The result? Drawers full of panties and bras. I also have a tiny collection of vintage (or very old) corsets and garter belts and I managed to buy some by La Perla for just a few euros.
When it comes to underwear, I don’t believe in trends.
I don’t care if this year is “all about high-waisted panties” or “you should have burgundy underwear”. Something so intimate should totally reflects my taste. Of course stepping out of our comfort zone is a good idea, in fashion and in life, so giving a chance to a new color, a new fabric, a new model is not that bad, once in a while. But it should always be something we like.
I have already written a post about underwear (the white bra in particular) and the rules some of us have about it. But this post is all about the importance of (beautiful) underwear.
Lovely underwear is very social media-friendly and socials often make us perceive something as desirable and ab-so-lu-te-ly necessary, but it’s undeniable that lingerie is beautiful and every woman deserves good one. First of all for herself.
Women like underwear much more than men.
I never met a man who told me that underwear was particularly important for him. Perhaps somebody affirmed to appreciate a nice ensemble, but nothing more. I guess someone spread the voice that men find underwear crucial, which is totally false. What it’s true, instead, is that wearing lovely underwear can boost our confidence, because it makes us feel better, well put together and a bit sexier. This, for sure, affects our attitude. And men notice it.
For this post, I simply picked a few pieces I would add to my drawer. Some women like plain, cotton underwear, some prefer lace, some prefer satin. Some like white lingerie, while some think the color of underwear is only black. I have a thing for cute, cheeky briefs but when it comes to bras, I usually buy them black, so I’m not obsessed with matching underwear.
What about you? What’s your favorite underwear?
Can you believe I made the preview image of this post using the old ripped pages of a magazine? I kept them for the beauty of the editorial.

Intimissimi “Gioia” push-up

Henriette H “Mon Coeur” (which means my heart) briefs have been embroidered in Paris. Isn’t it a plus?

Le Petit Trou “Odile” so cheeky and cute
Hi Noemi,
Beautiful post and I couldn’t agree more! In fact, I think sometimes the clothes underneath might even be even more important than the outerwear! For example, when something like work attire or uniforms are involved, I think lingerie can give a woman freedom to express herself and her creativity in a way she might not be able to with her outerwear.
Love your blog, by the way!
Hi Chrissa! Thank you so much! I’m glad you liked the post, and you’re so right, lingerie, like clothes, makes a woman express herself, in a more intimate way.
I love underwear and those Art of Kissing briefs are too cute!!
Yes, they’re super cute!
