While I was looking for some quotes to write this post, the first of the year, I found these words by Melody Beattie. I know, starting the year with motivational quotes is a cliché, but I try to stay away from those super over-used ones. They’re impractical, sometimes even cryptic, and used so much that they lost their meaning.
But there’re a lot of words that still mean something and at the right moment they can speak to us.
I’m not one of those people who start the year with a list of good intentions, but I often see a new year as a new chapter, it’s true. It’s kind of motivating. It makes me feel the way I used to feel when I was a child and I had to start a new exercise book, thinking “oh, I’ll write down everything is my best handwriting”. I hope some else can relate, please tell me it is so!
Anyway, I don’t believe in “new year, new me” (another over-used cliché). I believe in trying to be a better me, in all the possible ways, as much as I can. Maybe that’s my new year’s resolution. That’s my huge, frightening goal, I want to be the best version of myself. Everybody should have this goal!
