Hades is quickly becoming one of my favorite brands when it comes to knitwear. I was looking forward to seeing the new collection and obviously I wasn’t disappointed. It’s beautiful. And it’s dedicated to emotions, even those that seem bad ones. Like anxiety, sadness, jealousy. I love all the sweaters but my favorite one is probably “Bonjour Tristesse”.
Bonjour Tristesse is the title of a novel written by Françoise Sagan and of a 1958 film based on it, starring Jean Seberg. I read the book and I saw the film so that’s why I particularly like this sweater.
Hades sweaters are knitted in Portugal with Italian merino wool and embroidered in England. All the sweaters from this spring collection are made of a lighter wool, so you can keep wearing them even when the weather won’t be particularly cold.
I really admire Cassie Holland, she managed to create such an interesting brand that quickly became incredibly popular among it-girls like Alexa Chung and fashion insiders.
I fell in love with one of the sweaters of Hades first collection, “Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others” dedicated to famous rock bands. I looked for the Sonic Youth sweater until I eventually gave up! I’m sure this second collection, called “Inner Privacy”, will become a classic.
And the name of the brand… Hades. It’s the name of the Greek God of the underworld. How interesting!
