Brooches started to make a comeback few seasons ago and I’m glad about it. Some considered them old, a “grandmother accessory”. Sometimes I wonder why we often consider what our grandmothers wore so dated and out of style. After all, some of them used to dress so well and many style icons state that their grandmothers are a great source of inspiration.
Brooches can be fun and they’re the only jewels you can use in many different ways. You can add an unexpected touch of color or preciousness wherever you want. You can apply brooches near the neckline of a sweater and make a plain one look beautiful. And you can add some sparkle to a very casual outfit, like Gwyneth Paltrow did.
At Etro S/S 2018 fashion show beautiful and statement brooches were pinned to sashes. This for sure is something to get inspiration from.

Putting some brooches on the pocket of a coat (one made of thick fabric/material so you won’t get hurt, in case they’ll open) is another way to be creative with them. The result is beautiful and refined.

Pins can be even more versatile. You can add them to clothes and bags or use them to fill small spaces on your clothes, like flaps and belt loops.
These are some beautiful and cool brooches and pins. Who styled them wasn’t very creative, mainly putting them on the lapel of a jacket. But I also found some photos of inspiring ways to use brooches. I think they look particularly cool on casual garments like denim jackets and jeans, simple tops and sweatshirts.
