On Friday I usually post about beauty but since I had technical problems (which ruined my sleep, really) I decided to talk about something else because I was preparing this post a couple of days ago but couldn’t publish it.
I’ve recently grown an interest in jewelry (is it a good or a bad thing?). I could spend hours browsing in search of beautiful pieces, very expensive or very affordable, it doesn’t matter. I also like to read about them (I bought a book about Chanel Haute Joaillerie and it’s a dream) and I would like to know more about their history.
Talking about beautiful and affordable jewelry, designer Nicola Pulvertaft, founder of Powder Hill, just launched a collection called Tiger Mask, exclusively sold by Harvey Nichols, one of the most famous and prestigious department stores (just the name makes us fashionistas dream, right?).
Pulvertaft took inspiration from a Japanese manga, called exactly Tiger Mask. All the pieces of the collection are 18ct gold plated and uncrusted with green and pink tourmalines and made using a tecnique used during the Victorian period.
It’s so interesting that such different inspirations coexist in a collection.
Since I’ve always liked animal-shaped jewelry, I really like the Tiger Mask collection, most of all the necklace and its details.
Tiger Mask is a manga published at the end of the ’60s and later adapted in an anime. It’s the story of a wrestler known for being very violent on the ring but very generous with the children of the orphanage where he grew up. When I was little I used to watch it, sometimes a little girl should take a break from cutesy love stories, right? I wonder if somewhere Tiger Mask is still aired.
