I hope you liked the first post dedicated to stylish music videos. Here are some other videos that offer a fair amount of style. And good music, of course.
“Stay With Me” by Eight Wonder. Patsy Kensit wears some amazing sequined minidresses. The black one seems to come straight from a Saint Laurent’s collection. Ahh the ’80s… When the fashion was good, was so good! If you like Kensit’s style take a look at this video, too. (I couldn’t find out who directed it/1986)
“Suit & Tie” by Justin Timberlake ft. JAY Z. Timberlake looks particularly dapper dressed in Tom Ford. (Director: David Fincher/2013)
“Try Again” by Aaliyah. The late singer looking beautiful in Dolce & Gabbana. I think I watched this videos at least a hundred times. (Director: Wayne Isham/2000)
“Celebrity Skin” by Hole. This is probably the glossier music video by Hole. At that time, Courtney Love was taking a walk on the glamorous side of L.A., fresh from the success of “The People vs. Larry Flint”. The song is 20 years old (and I can’t believe it!) and it’s love-hate letter to the city of angels. That’s why, probably, the band look so glamorous and Love and bassist Melissa Auf der Maur sing lying in a coffin. (Director: Nancy Bardawil/1998)
“What You Waiting For” by Gwen Stefani. The platinum singer as a modern, super stylish Alice in Wonderland dressed in Christian Dior by John Galliano. (Director: Francis Lawrence/2004)
“Mr. Brightside” by The Killers. Brandon Flowers is one of the most stylish singers/musicians and the band’s videos are always visually beautiful. Starring the band, model Isabella Miko and Eric Roberts. “Mr. Brighside” won a moonman, that is to say a MTV Video Music Award, for Best New Artist in a Video in 2005. (Director: Sophie Muller/2005)
“Too Funky” by George Michael. This is universally considered one of the most stylish music videos ever (together with “Freedom” by Michael as well). Super models and designer clothes. If YouTube existed back in 1992 this video would have had billions of views. (Director: Thierry Mugler, not credited/1992)
“Take Me Home” by Sophie Ellis-Bextor. The English singer always looks gorgeous and feminine in her videos and this one is particularly stylish. The song is a cover of a Cher’s track from the 1979 and it was Ellis-Bextor’s debut single. You should also watch how beautiful and stylish Ellis-Bextor looks in this video released last year. (Director: Sophie Muller/2001)
“Bossy” by Kelis ft. Too $hort. One of the comments under this video says “the fashion in this video is still sickening in 2018”. So true. (Director: Marc Klasfeld/2006)
“Spectrum” by Florence + The Machine. Florence Welch has a great sense of style and everything looks so good on her. The videos of the band are so carefully styled and this one is, in my opinion, is their most stylish one. Welch sports some amazing outfits and a beautiful wig.(Director: David LaChapelle and John Byrne/2012)
“These Boots Are Made For Walking” by Nancy Sinatra. Who doesn’t know this song? It’s been sang by many singers, since it was released, in 1965. I love Sinatra’s outfit! (I couldn’t find out who directed it/1966)
“Get Right” by Jennifer Lopez. J.Lo always looks at her best in her videos. I particularly like this one, where the singer plays many different roles in a night club. I love the way she’s dressed in the dancing scenes. (Director: Francis Lawrence/2005)
You should also see these videos I previously posted as songs of the week: “Eternity” by Robbie Williams, “Perfect Places by Lorde”, “American Money” by BØRNS.
