We often think about design as something that is exclusive and out of reach but there’re a lot of objects of design that are quite affordable and that will add a touch of style to your home sweet home without breaking the bank.
These are three Italian objects of design that you can buy light-heartedly.
Kartell “Componibili”. Designed by Anna Castelli Ferrieri, this modular element, available in different sizes, two shapes (round and square) and colors, is a super versatile storage unit. I have it in silver grey, a color which is not available anymore, and I use it to store small books, because big ones can get stuck due to the sliding doors. You can place it everywhere, I think it looks great in the bathroom (very chic way to store toilet paper and extra toiletries). You probably saw this piece of furniture many times because it’s considered a classic, it’s even exhibited at the MoMA of New York City and the Centre Pompidou of Paris.
Seletti My Crown. Part of Memorabilia Gold collection, this crown is a beautiful decorative object designed by Selab and Alessandro Zambelli. It’s made of fine porcelain and you can place it everywhere. I move mine pretty often and trust me, it really adds a “regal” touch of gold to a shelf, a table, a dresser, a coffee table.
Alessi Juicy Salif. This lemon juicer, designed by Philippe Starck, is a very iconic item that will add a touch of style to your kitchen, for sure. Made in thermoplastic resin, it’s one of the most famous kitchen tools ever. Some people, me very included, find it a bit disquieting because it looks like an alien spider. But I’d like to buy it, sooner or later.
